Parent walkthrough — five cards

Purpose. Follow each card exactly as a parent would, from reading it to taking the first step (you can stop short of actually submitting an application). Write down every point where you are not sure what to do next. Those gaps are what we fix before launch.

Suggested five (one per area, mix of statewide and county-specific):

  1. SNAP (card 01 + guide 01)
  2. LIHEAP (card 06) — the county table is the test
  3. Medicaid / KidCare (card 07 + guide 03)
  4. Early Steps or FDLRS Child Find (card 10 or 12), whichever matches a child you know
  5. School district ESE (card 13)

Swap any of these for a card that matches a real situation you've dealt with.

Card: ______________________ Date: __________

1. First read (before clicking anything). In one sentence, what does this program give you?

Did the card tell you whether you can use it? ☐ Yes ☐ Not sure — what was unclear:

2. The first step. Did you know exactly what to do first (which link, which number, what to say)? ☐ Yes ☐ No

If you called or clicked: what happened? (Phone tree? Right person? Dead link? Portal asked for something the card didn't mention?)

3. "What do I do next?" moments. List every point where you stopped and weren't sure.

Where on the card What you were unsure about

4. Documents. Did the card tell you what to have ready before you started? Anything the agency asked for that wasn't listed?

5. Wording. Any sentence you had to read twice, or a term you'd want explained (e.g., "deeming," "pre-enrollment," "clinical eligibility")?

6. Trust. Did anything on the card seem out of date or wrong compared with what you know or what the agency said?

7. Would you send this card to another parent as-is? ☐ Yes ☐ With changes ☐ No

If "with changes," the one change that matters most:

Return completed forms to Aaron. Each gap gets logged in the tracker's "Exact item to verify" column with you as owner, or fixed in the card directly.
